    […] There have been a couple of changes to the wordpress install here in the last day or so. I changed out the theme - using the “widget friendly” wp-colors theme from Kalina Web Designs (and modified slightly). […]

  2. kaila Says:

    if we wanted to change the color of the blog post title (currently orange) to and the blog post title bar (currently Blue) where can we change this?

  3. Colleen Says:

    All colors are controlled in the stylesheet.

    You change the blog post title colors in this bit of code, color codes may be different depending on the color scheme you’re using.

    .posttitle h2 a:link, .posttitle h3 a:link {
    text-decoration: underline;
    color: #9a2325;
    }
    .posttitle h2 a:visited, .posttitle h3 a:visited {
    text-decoration: underline;
    color: #393939;
    }
    .posttitle h2 a:hover, .posttitle h3 a:hover {
    text-decoration: underline;
    color: #ff0000;
    }

    This is where you change the blog post title bar color.

    .postmetadata {
    background: #393939;
    color: #fff;
    height: auto;
    text-align: right;
    padding: 1px 5px 1px 0;
    margin: 0;
    font-size: 0.8em;
    }

    Is there be a simple way to add my logo in the left area of the header, just to the left of the Title and Subtitle?

  15. art Says:

    I love the WP Colors blue\orange fixed width theme. It’s clean and easy to read with bright colors. However, I have no need for the AdSense stuff and commented it out of the code, but now I have a big empty space in the sidebar. I’ve been looking at the code trying to shrink the sidebar down to one column but can’t seem to find the right place. Can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

  16. Colleen Says:

    Art, it would have to be recoded.

    Bill, you just stick the image in the header template, beside the title and left align the image.

  17. Laura Scroggins Says:

    Beautiful, smart, easy to use …. this is a wonderful theme. Colleen, thank you so much. When you are rich and famous I hope you will remember your fans.

  18. David Cheong Says:

    Colleen, nice work of art. Very impress of both the design and coloring. Looking forward for your new creation.

  19. Paris Beaverbanks Says:

    Hi Colleen, thanks for your beautiful themes. I’m using both this one and another of your WP colour themes for both my blogs. I love them for the clean look and it helps its SEO friendly too.

    One little thing that bugs me is that the text doesn’t wrap around the images. Is there a way to correct this? I’d like for text to wrap around images some of the time and not to wrap at other times. Is there a way to do that?

    Otherwise, keep up the good work!

  20. Colleen Says:

    Hi Paris, yes this is possible.

    In your image tag, when you create a new post, you have to add style=”float:left” or style=”float:right” depending which side you want the image on.

  21. Paris Beaverbanks Says:

    Colleen: Thanks so much! It works a treat :) Keep up the great work!

  22. David Cheong Says:

    Hi, Colleen, there is a different view between IE and FF. The sidebar is like a bit emm… maybe should take a look.

  25. Tim Says:

    Hi -

    I’ve downloaded and am now using the blue-orange theme. Very nice! One question: If I decide to use one of the other color schemes (e.g red/black), can you just switch out a css file or does it require a total new install? I’ve customized sidebars, etc. and would like to avoid doing it again.

    Thanks

  26. Colleen Says:

    Hello Tim, if memory serves me right, you can switch the stylesheet, but there’s graphics involved with different names based on color, you can right click on them in the demo and save them and upload over yours. Then in the template files if there’s a reference to an image, make sure it’s name is right, that should be all.

  27. Raymond Says:

    Is it possible to change the standard search box to a Google Adsense search box? Is it as easy as pasting the Google generated code into searchform.php?

  28. admin Says:

    I don’t know Raymond,you’d have to try it out and see. I would think removing what’s in searchform.php and replacing it with Google’s code would be ok.

    Hi Colleen,

    I just installed your theme in http://www.diary.mikeligalig.com I like it very much!

    I don’t mind changing the code of the search box. But how can I put my own Adsense pub ID in the top bar. Today is my first time with Wordpress. Hope I’d hear an instruction from you.

    Thanks again… God bless you!

  31. Michael Ligalig Says:

    Hi Ms Christina Bay,

    May I ask you how to set up my own Adsense leaderboard banner like you did in your hotelsandtravel.org?

  34. Adam W. Warner Says:

    Hi there,

    I just found your themes, and as an avid wordpress user, I have to say your themes are the BEST LOOKING and MOST USEFUL I’ve found! Thank you so much for making them available for donation.

    I have just installed the Lilac/Olive Fluid Width and I wonder if you could answer a sipmple question. I have filled in my Adsense ID in the three pages specified in the readme, however, the right-most skyscaper ads don’t show on my main page. If I click to an individual post, the right-most skyscraper ads do show. Is this how it’s supposed to be?

    I have looked at some of the other commenter’s sites and these seem to show. I am using WP 2.0.5, and have installed the widgets plugin (although this is the first time with the widgets plugin), I’m guessing something may be awry here?

    If you could shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks

    thanks for the theme! God bless you!

  39. keysi Says:

    Hi Colleen~

    I’m in a bit of a fix with your theme. See, It looks awesome in Firefox, but not in IE. In IE, all formatting is stripped away. I get the same results even if I disable and reenable all my plugins. I’d appreciate your help with this. It just looks uber-terrible in IE.

    One of my top choices for my new website really. But it looks kinda inconsistent with IE, and a problem with images in blog entries. When an image is vertical longer than an blog entry’s text, the blog entry’s framing doesn’t look right.

    hi,

    I am using this theme. I would like to add a banner to my site.Is it possible to change the black baned with a JPG picture.

    If yes, i ‘ll be glad if you can explain how i can do…

    thank you

  44. admin Says:

    Yes it can be done, upload a new image and change it’s name in the css/template.

  45. Barron Says:

    Hi -

    I am computer illiterate. After downloading and extracting your template, I’ve ended up with a bunch of files (archives, comments pop-up, header, links, searchform, skyscrapter, etc.) rather than a template. Your installation instructions - “upload theme to wp-content/themes” followed by “in your admin, go to Presentation and activate WP Colors, etc.,” are meaningless to me. I really don’t have a clue how to open the template.

  46. Jo Says:

    I am using the WP colors theme and would like to add my flickr photos in a sidebar. I can upload photos to my blog, but it says that my theme is not widget compatible, although I thought this was. Is there a way to add my flickr photos as a sidebar with your theme?

  47. Jo Says:

    How do I increase the font size for the title of my site in the WP colors. I want to make it bigger, but can only figure out how to change the font for the blog titles, but not the website title itself .

  48. Jo Says:

    Hey guys, I noticed something. I don’t think IE show that much of a difference in formatting, more so of a cache thing with IE. When I change the format with Firefox, it show immediately, but with Explorer it takes a couple of days to switch. Some tech person told me it had something to do with the browser caching things. It only happens with my computer at work, not at home. At home, it changes immediately.

    –P.S. I fixed the font size problem, still trying to figure out how to do flickr in sidebar though.

  49. Deka Says:

    Thanks Kalina for the template. I use WP Colors Themes, its great. Check out: Hitech Handheld

  50. Mark Says:

    Love your templates! I am trying to figure out how to add a Comment Bubble Picture next to the word “comments” after each post. Any Ideas??? Thank you very much.

  51. Jo Says:

    Is there any way to allow readers to make comments on the pages? Although they can make comments on the posts, I’d like to be able to have comments on several pages as well.
