I recently finished reading “Build Your Own Wicked WordPress Themes” from sitepoint.com, and because I was so impressed I am going to share my review with you. This book is extremely handy if you’re looking for a way to build and design WordPress themes and would then like to sell them. It’s also very useful for those who’d like to create WordPress themes for their own blog.

The book starts off explaining what WordPress is and how a theme relates to it, the planning process for your theme and how understanding existing themes is important. If you’re already a WordPress theme developer like me, you’ll still find great value in this book as it explains every single part of a WordPress theme, you’ll definitely learn a thing or two!

You’ll learn how to create WordPress theme frameworks and how you can build upon them to create child themes. You will also learn how to create your own widgets, and theme options. All the information is laid out in a way that is easy to understand.

I really appreciated the information at the end of the book about licensing, providing support for your theme and proper documentation and most importantly, where best to list your theme so potential buyers can find it. This book is a must-read for any WordPress theme developer who’s serious about selling a professional product.
